I'm considering the Toyota Altezza and the Lexus IS to be the same car, because it is the same car. The only difference is the badge on the hood, and the Lexus doesn't get all of the engine options that the Toyota does.

There are two engines in the Japanese home-market Altezza, the 2.0L I6 and a Yamaha-developed 2.0L I4, which is the hotter of the two engines, putting out 210 PS against the I6's 155 PS, or whatever it is.

Obviously, neither of these two engines will make the IS a worthy competitor to the M3.

My previous post was about a possible 280 PS (and of course that's the lower limit) TT I4 that I've read about that might push the the IS into M3 territory, in terms of both balance and output.

With this engine, I'm envisioning a 300 PS IS, weighing in at about 3,100 lbs, which would run with the M3.

Of course, all that aside, I'd much rather have the M3.
