Owen, Thanx for the response. I re-read some of the reviews I had seen on the new generation of BMW diesels and they all sound pretty impressive! I too will wait on the M3. I really think they will be going to a small displacement (4.0L) V8 when the E46 M3 is upgraded mid-production. There was a good article on the new M3 in BMW Car (British magazine). They indicated that this is really the end for the I6 as they really cannot make it much faster. Even the 23hp they managed to extract was very difficult it sounds. The magazine also had a review of some of the current diesels BMW is building. All very positive reviews.
