me they had been informed that they would get 6 cars for calendar year 2000. I got that info back in January, so they may have gotten first quarter projections for 2001 by now. I got on my list early Dec. 99, and I was number 7. I am still number 7, no one ahead of me has dropped out. Initial production was expected to be low for the first year, though there was some talk of speeding things up by delaying production of the new m coupe and roadster. However, this is confounded by BMWNA's announcement at the NYC show, that many initial cars will be shipped with colors and options decided by the factory. If true, and you didn't care what color or options you got, you could see a car relatively soon compared to folks who want to order it the way they want it.
All I can say is if you NEED a car right away, another model may be best for you. If you can wait and you are really interested in the m3, I think we are going to be getting something super.
