Point being, I made the decision with the E36 to obtain a sample from one of the earliest batches and enjoyed driving the only Schnitzer M3 in mid/late '94. However, when the E36 M3 evolutions bloomed in '97 running 3.2 ltrs, I felt a bit slighted.
I am thus far, wanting to change my experience with the E46. Have you considered what the implications are with this initial engine offering? 104bhp/ltr @7900rpms means that this B32 engine is maxed (unless of course they stray from the path of naturally aspirated power).
Is it likelier than ever that the E46 M3 Evo will have to have 2 more cylinders? This remains to be seen, but the pressure is on, they strained and followed the usual path of tuners in order to provide a power plant for the new M3. But what next?
I know you're most likely waiting because of other circumstances, but have you ever considered all of that which I have mentioned?

: Same here. I just traded in my 99 m3 for a 525iT so I could get my race kart to the track. I will have another M3, but it appears my wait may be a few years which is ok with me. By then, they will have "worked the bugs out" of the new "46" model and it should be a great car around 04 when I get my new one.
