: Can anyone who's driven a car with SMG comment on what it's like in stop-and-go traffic? I have a hard time imagining that it would not be uncomfortable, assuming that it's either *in* gear or *out* of gear--no feathering the clutch. If it does somehow manage to be comfortable at extremely low speeds--how does it do that?

: I know that the first M3's available in the US will not have SMG, but by the time they get to me (#45 on the list at a dealer who will sell at MSRP), maybe that will have changed.

It is done by controling the cluth by an electro/hydraulic unit that gets its information from the trotle position speed of the car an how fast the trotle position is changed, witch means if you drive smooth the cluth is ocupied smooth, but not as good as an automatic transmission. but i drove an E36 and i assume the new M3 will be a step foward whith a drive by wire for the trotle.
