Firstly, does anybody know the engine designation for the current E46 M3? (S52 B32 still or S54?)

Secondly, If we already know that the current engine offering is basically a massaged E36 Euro Evo engine (pushed to the max and showing impressive numbers by raising redline), then would it not be safe to assume that there *has* to be an engine update VERY soon after the first year?

What is the likelihood that M GmbH will simply keep "tuning" this engine by increasing the bore and stroke? Isn't there some sort of physical limitation? (tuners seem to tread these grounds often)

I know this engine has been around for a good length of time now, and most tuners have pretty much maxed it out just like M GmbH. I'm personally willing to wait a full year to find out what's over the horizon, for some reason, this initial offering seems "odd" at best, feeling much like a marketing decision that has oppressed the original intention of this car's potential.

FWIW
