BMW has stated before that the current 321HP produced in the Euro M Coupe is plenty of power for the car and it doesn't require any more. I think that is why it won't see the same output as the new M3 motor. AC Schnitzer reaffirmed this in their S3 Coupe in which no engine mods were made. They said that increasing HP would ruin the balence of the car. But Hartge believes differently stuffing a 350HP V8 under the hood.

: From what I understand the Coupe will not get the same emgine as the new M3, it will get a detuned version, but later. The reason is I have no idea, this is just what was told to me. I can tell you that it will be a hugh improvment over the 240hp engine it has now. In 2002 or 2003 the little car gets a complete make over and then it will get a better engine, but untill then No.
