Did BMW go with 2 sets of tail-pipes purely for
non-functional, stylistic reasons? It's an inline
6, which means only one set of headers.

The new M3, like the E36 M3, has dual pipes running from front to back. 3 cylinders collected in each pipe. Per pics, new M3 has two individual cats.

The pictures I've seen of the bottom of the car also idicate that the exhaust piping goes to only one side. That other set better be functional!! Did they do the same lame shit on the current M Coupe and MZ.

Those that have seen the car and peaked underneath have indicated that there is one muffler on the back of car and that all pipes are functional.

I am sure styling had a lot to do with it...
