It's just freaking cool. I've been driving sticks my whole life, but to be honest working the clutch is kind of a pain in the ass. There's something about having shift levers on the steering column that just rocks. It's like the stereo controls... it's just bloody cool to have them there. Plus, I'm sure the SMG can work the clutch much better than I do.

I'm holding out for an M3 Touring with SMG. That's a grocery getter from hell.

Ever since i first heard of the SMG system, i didn't really warm up to it at all. The reason i prefer Manual is not that i can select the gears, although that is a plus, but rather that i can use the clutch to modulate just how much power reaches the pavement. For example, i can control wheelspin without DSC/ASC+T with just my left foot "feeling" the feedback through the pedal. With SMG, i would be stomping on the dead pedal! I know some will like it, but that's just my $.02
