The 330 and 255 HP and torque numbers are the estimated numbers BMW published some time ago. In all of their literature there is always a footnote stating that they are preliminary numbers. Any other third party reports are just a regurgitation of these specs. Whether or not these are the final numbers remain to be seen. There are two reasons for any differences between the US and other versions. The first is SAE vs. DIN ratings. Any difference because of this is just a result of how the measurements are made not any difference in output. The second is US emissions requirements, specifically the closed-loop catalytic converter. I believe one of the reasons people are seeing so many M3ís on the road under test is that BMW is trying to minimize the power loss due to emissions. Letís hope that they succeed.
