Why is it only m-cars get the differential lock? HOw does DSC play a part with and without differential lock?

I read at the BMW web site, the new m3 rear differential will make a huge difference when launching from a standing start with its high revving engine, hi torque and horsepower- much better traction and forward movement, and a major contributor to the advertsied phenomenal 0-60times. It is probably a costly product that just wouldn't make sense in a car that does not really need it. my .02 cents.
