I would sell the E36 M3 and get 2 of these cars such as CLK55 and M5. Or M3 and M5. Or M5 and CLK430 Conv.

It all depends on how you would like to use them, and the size of your family, your daily commute in miles. I would not put many miles to any of these vehicles.

I have driven the CLK 55. It was an amazing car but I would still go for the M3. The auto on the CLK 55 was not too appealing to me. Plus my driving characteristics are better matched with the M3 (Atleast I am hoping). M5 is a beast but for me it is too heavy of a car. Not as much fun in the track as an M3. CLK430 Convertible is a fun car but not for me again, unless I have one of the others. ;-)

If you do not sell your E46, I would say get the M5...
