I'd add the M Coupe to your short list. If you don't need four seats, you don't need sedan. Thanks to it's power to weight ratio it's a real kick to drive. Plenty of torque and fun to toss around. Reliabilty is not a problem and it has a greater build quality than the Vette. It will also hold its value better. You can get one today, unlike the M3, and for the about the same price you're paying for the Vette.

The only thing about the M is its looks. At first I didn't like them but they have really grown on me. There's a local guy with a black one and I have to admit it really looks cool. The car is a head turner and you don't see that many on the road. I see Vettes all the time.

Your pop's right, buy your toys now. But don't get a Vette just because you can, get it because it's what you want. I'd get the M and drive the hell out of it. When you get married you can get a nice practical sedan, you know like an M5 :)
