Well, if the M Coupe is not your cup of tea, I'd opt for the M3. The C5 is OK in the turns, but I would expect that the new M3 would be on another level. The C5 really satisfies the teenager in you that shows up at the stoplights. But I much prefer my E36 M3 over the Vette on the back roads where it is more precise and the new one should raise the bar even higher. On the downside, you're going to have to wait like the rest of us to get one.
