Well, no one knows for sure but the conventional wisdom is that BMW is definatly working on the second generation SMG unit. In that case it should be made available in those countries where the original SMG was sold. There's also a good chance that it will be made available in the US this time around. But, I don't think that it will make it in the 2001 M3.
