Finally, got to see the real thing at Texas Motor Speedway. We also sat in it, hood up, trunk, open etc. First impression on the Laguna Seca blye color by our car club was not good. The color remonds you of a Dodge Neon color, doesn't do justice to the car. The interior on this prototype did not look as exciting as the photos, may be due to the wood trim. The overall car looks pumped up in size, not quite as mean as I had pictured from earlier sitings. The laterest word from Tom Salkowski was that ordering info to dealers early Oct. with some deliveries in Dec. the dealers will all get one Laguna Seca demo first in Dec. Colors not verified according to Tom, I wonder why such secrecy? The car has been hyped enough, lets get it on at the dealers. Rumor floating around was that SMG may be available 6-9 months after the first units are out. No word on 4 dr. I asked if anthracite will be out, comment was no but something very similar. I thought the car would be more of a depature from the E36 like the E30, but it is not that radical both exterior and interior. The interior was a little sparten in appearance compared to an Audi or MB, maybe that will be improved in the production run. Well, back to the big wait again, maybe this year.
