It's simple economics. The process of getting the car to the consumer would be much more efficient. In the long term this will result in lower prices for cars. Sure the manufacturer could keep prices the same and take all the extra profit made on each sale, but that wouldn't make sense. Over the long term they would make far more profit by selling far more cars at a lower price. A lower price that wouldn't be possible if the dealer was still there.
you'd like to think that would happen but it won't. The manufacturers want to get rif of the dealers to increase profits (increase per car profits, not in volume).
This thread is kinda futile since we will never find out.
