Right now, dealers, per their franchise agreements are able to charge the distributor/manufacturer for warranty work, and the distributor/manufacturer pays the dealer's bill. Under Porsche's original plan from the mid-80's, Porsche would have maintained a facility which would have served as the ordering place, service for warranty work and post-warranty service for a fee. This facility would have, effectively, replaced the current dealer, although no inventory would have been stocked, only demos for test driving. The customer would have missed out on the purchase haggling and would end up with the manufacturer/distributor performing the warranty work instead of the current intermediary dealer.


Yes I understand that but you have to find a place that the dealer is willing to pay to do the work.
