Quite frankly, I have never trusted manufacturer claims of power. Sure, they are usually within reason, but I look at factory figures as a number +/- 5%. Most of that comes from the way they measure output (altitude, temperature, etc make a lot of difference) and just simple variations in the finished product (some engines will make more power than others off the assembly line).
There are even times when the manufacturer outright lies, either by overstating the power (ie the previous Ford Mustang Cobra) or even understating (ie the Audi S4, which has no chance of pulling off the numbers it does with the claimed output considering its weight).
Even if their specs were right on the money, I seriously doubt you can feel or use that extra 5 lb-ft of torque.
