Are you aware of any production cars using separately drilled rotors? All that I know of use cast drilled rotors. One "Fact" you forget to mention is that there are no reported cracks of Porsche's cast cross-drilled rotors in North America. Doesn't that count for something?

Fact, drilled holes increase the stress concentration factor. Look it up in any basic engineering text.

Fact, Porsches holes are cast, not drilled for the very reason above. This is an expensive proposition. If you want to get really fancy, you can start forging stuff. However, I doubt that would be practical in this situation.

Fact, Brakes on a 3400lb car see a hell of a lot more heat and stress than on a 500 lb motorcycle.

Fact, drilled aftermarket rotors do crack, maybe infrequently, but they do.

Fact, If a rotor began to crack it is not easily visble on a car without frequent inspections.

Fact, Based on the cost to do it right and the dangers of doing wrong, BMW could very easily decide that the risk outweigh the benefits. Remember this is an under 50K car.

Sorry to confuse the situation with facts. BTW, do not compare cars to motorcycles, way too many differences.

The point, simply, is that cross-drilled rotors are not likely to increase the odds of litigation. They are a proven commodity. That Bruce (apparently not the "real" Bruce) believes cross-drilled rotors are similar to the increased liklihood of litigation from floating rotors only proves Bruce's lack of knowledge on the subject. His lack of knowledge dramatically reduces the effectiveness and credibility of his post. Can he be taken seriously?
