The BMW SMG system as it was first introduced had a stick shift allowing you to shift up and down a gear at a time. The clutch itself was 100% computer controlled.

The next version of SMG looks like ot has paddles and a stick, but the exact functions are only speculated.

The Ferrari type system in the modena is a little different, as describe to me. The fact that you can't control clutch slip has been a big complaint in similar systems, so apparently the modena allows some clutch control through one of the paddles.

Might be worth investigating further.
