I bought my M3 when I was 22.. the annualized insurance rate was 3600/year in the NY area with good coverage levels. After the first 6 month stint, the insurance companies saw that I was less of a risk and reduced my insurance dramatically to around 2200/year. Now, being 25, I pay about 1200/year. Just shop around as some insurers wanted as much as 7k/year...

Take the driver safety program that your state offers for a dramatic improvement on your insurance rates.
