I'd kill such a dumb horse. Anyways, BMW _has_ stated publicly that they never tested V8 and in M3 and that they would never do such a thing, for what it's worth.
Aside from that, there are _so_ many things you can do to lower emissions that if they were serious about it, you could _buy_ the technology from another company to do it even if they can't figure it out themselves. BTW I don't think GM/Ford/Chrysler have any ULEV V8s so I think that is pure BS. GM bought Honda's V6 just so that they could get a higher displacement ULEV engine since they did not have one of their own.
As far as I'm concerned, the E46 M3 doesn't exist yet. I've not seen one for sale in NA, have you? So it's difficult for me to get all hot and bothered about a GT prototype that was never made availible to NA in it's last reincarnation, especially when the base model isn't even sold here yet, and nobody even knows if or when it ever will be.
