Dakar...what dealer did you go to? I went to BMW of Manhattan, Difeo (in NJ), and Ralleye out on the island. This was around the July/Aug timeframe. Got different stories at each of them, but the Manhattan dealer seemed the most honest. Plus they're a BMW-owned dealer. At the other dealer, I asked what number I was on the list, and they hinted that it depended on how much I was willing to spend. $$$

I called my dealer up and they said that if one secures a spot on the line, it will take about 2 years until one places the order for the car. Is that typical or are people being quoted shorter wait times? One year is not a problem, but 2 is a LONG ways off. The dealer is a large dealer in the NYC area which appears to receive a large allotment.

Thanks in advance.
