BMW already said they wouldn't put the M5 V8 into the M3 because it would throw off the weight balance not to mention the front end would have to be made larger to accomodate it. The rumors of a test M3 with the M5 V8 were BS.

And the M3 already beats the CLK55 in weight, acceleration and estimated top speed. CLK55 0-60 in 5.2, M3 0-60 in 4.8.
