My first impression on the C5 was that it was a very large car containing a surprisingly tight
interior. The engine provided great gobs of thrust and fun noises, but without much subtlety.
Handling was excellent, braking was good, and seating position was very low with high sills
lending a sitting-in-a-bathtub sensation to my
early moments in the vehicle. Fit and finish along with quality control were ok, but not great.
In contrast, the E46 is a surprisingly compact package with real room for 4 humans inside. Outward
view is better due to lower sills and slightly more upright seating position. Thrust is somewhat less,
but delivered with greater precision. Handling is better communicated but with slightly lower limits.
Quality was significantly better.
So it depends on what your priorities are. Do you want bragging rights and max performance? Then
the C5 is your car. Are you interested more in a combination of driving enjoyment, near but not
total supercar performance, and daily practicality delivered in a high quality package? Then think
I've made my decision, and I'm slightly annoyed at someone parading in here asserting that I've not
driven the competition, while doing so with redundant triplicate posts which indicate
a high level of ignorance about how to operate a simple BBS posting interface. HOW MANY OF YOU
TROLLS HAVE ACTUALLY GONE TO THE TEST POST BOARD TO LEARN HOW TO USE THIS THING? See how
those all caps sentences get insulting? :)
