My response to that is I HAVE owned a 1999 C-5 and it was the worst of times and the best of times. This is not a C-5 bash but an observation from one C-5 owner. My wife and I both ordered our Corvette with the museum option. At first we were very excited about our new car. I mean, WOW, we went to Bowling Green to pick it up and drive it home. But then little things came up, like rattles in the interior and the seat breaking. I felt "hey this is not a big deal". After about 700miles the trans went, then about a month later the dash, then the trans again, then the seat motor broke. Finally, I get the car back. About a week and a half later the trans broke again. I owned that car for 310days. The total time spent in the shop with all the different repairs added up to 143days. Yes, GM did buy the car back and yes, I will by another GM product someday (ie truck) but never another Corvette. Now, I understand this sounds like I am bashing GM but I am not. I think the C-5 was a big improvement over the C-4, but the C-5 can not stand up to the quality of a Japanese or German built car. I had a Turbo Supra for 8yrs. It was only in the shop 3 times for work in those 8yrs. The Supra was a great car and I unfortunately got rid of it for the Vette. Oh well. The Vette gave great performance. I paid 35k for a motor, and about 10k for everything else.
Given the Corvette Z06 clearly puts the Dodge Viper and Porsche Turbo into its sights in any given situation on the street or track. Even though this is BMW board,I think that it should be first a car lover board. To conclude, before the many BMW owers on this board bash the Corvette,I'D LIKE TO KNOW HOW MANY OF YOU DROVE A VETTE LATELY.
