With forced induction E36 M3 on the streets and track, many with more than 340 HP, you'd have heard about chassis failure in the E36 M3 group if it was any concern. Given that the E46 M3 chassis is even stronger and stiffer (and heavier), I sincerely doubt it is any problem at all. BMW could afford some mistakes on the intro of a new car, but chassis failure is not one of them. Even before the E46 chassis was in design stage the M staff had input on it to make sure it met their basic requiements.
