I agree with you, but I think that with any business, the regular customers have to take some sort of priority. The only way to become a regular customer is to establish it over time by purchasing a few cars.

The big joke is that BMW doesn't just produce as many of these as they have orders for.

What I'd like to see is a waiting list that actually means something. And we all know that money talks. In Canada, we plunk down a $1000, big deal. I'm sure most people that are even moderatly serious can find a grand on a credit card. Why not make it more? Make it 5 grand and the waiting lists might be shorter. Same number of cars produced, just less jockying for position.

This would separate the serious buyers from the moderately serious ones.

Just a thought

I tried putting my name on the waiting list... but the impression I have is that it is pointless. Since i have only purchased one car from the dealer (E36 M3) I get the impression that I will never see the car unless the market gets flooded.

Any time a customer who has bought a couple of cars from the dealer decides he or she would like an M3 for their 16 year old son, then I'm sure they will move up the list and I will get bumped down another spot. I'm sure this will be common practice at most dealers.
