I think most of those here with deposits down sought out dealers guaranteeing MSRP. I'm sure cars will be available almost immediately from high-line dealers in the price range you mentioned for those unwilling to wait.
hmm well i know that about half the poeple who use this forum say the car will cost them only 45k im guessing M5 owners where thinking they where only going to pay the list price of $69,400 but they are paying damm near $80,000
so at a list price of 45k and a very high demand with only 4000 units im exspecting you guys are going to pay somewhere around 50-60k what do you think?

What is BMWs excuse for making M3 fans wait so long since they were last able to buy a new E36 version, way back in 99? After all, its been more than 30 months since the E46 sedan launched (AW, March 2, 1998). According to M3 project manager Siegfried Friedmann, the M division had to wait until the everyday 3 Series Coupe was well along (AW, April 12, 1999) before the sports version could take shape
However, he says, the two teams worked closely together, and his people were able to do some advance engineering in one respect: All E46 unibodies were designed from the outset to take the cornering loads the M version would generate.
