based off 2 points:
(no judgments here)
1) if there is, and i think there is, a sizable chunk of demographics ,not already aimed at by bmw, of people who would opt to purchase an m3 if they offered an automatic, then that would only mean more profits for bmw and just might induce them to produce specializations of the m3(ltw, sleeper, sedan, etc.) as well as interest in different cars altogether(a supercar). It worked for porsche, and they just posted a 10% increase in profits

2) whats the point of railing against autoboxes's anyway? first of all, whose listening? are there that many people on this board who prefer slushboxes? i doubt it. theyre offering a 6 manual standard anyway, at least i wouldnt have to pay more as an option, or retrofit( like a few lexus' i have seen) god forbid
secondly, and this im not so sure about, what would bmw offering automatics do to resale value?
