I could afford an M5 and not have to wait for M3!

Look, most people here including me would not want the auto. But if one were made, who cares? Is your or my M3 going to be slower or handle different just because someone else got an auto? No? Whats the big deal?

M3 ruined just because someone else got an auto? Whats the deal? Some magical deformation when you put an M and an auto together? Who cares? Maybe you didn't notice, but the 3 comes from the 3 series, where auto's are sold in equal numbers. Oh, heaven forbid it, M3 has been ruined because 3 series are sold with autos! Lord save us!

Number one, I am as white necked bastard as they come. I live in the US and I am a US citizen, but I was born in Eastern Europe and I lived there for a long time. I do not like automatics, they ruin a car.

what is the reason that you are buying an M3 ? Because it is just any car ? because you see it anywhere on the street ? go buy a regular 3-series and get your auto. NO, because a special care has been taken to make it what it is. It is a unique machine, that is made for a specific purpose. And you know what M and auto does not go together. Why is BMW so indecisive about putting an auto in ? what's the problem ? Europeans do not like autos, period.
