I've read that torque was great at the lower rpms. What gives?
Recently I had an oppurtunity to drive the E-46 M3 in a parking lot. The compression in that motor when you start it up is incredible.
Now please keep in mind that i did not break 50km/h so I did not actually drive the car. But the suspension in compared to the 330Ci Sport susp. is night and day. Alot tighter. Chassis rigidity is drastically increased. and the shifter is shorter throw.
The car I drove was pre-production so I do not know if the engine finishing was complete or not but it looks alot like the 94EuroSpec E-36. Very nice:-)
Low end torque was nothing to write home about, just like the Euro's But mid end up in first gear(the only gear I drove in) was sweetness.
The car is more refined than the E-36 but not soft. It is a true sports car.
In short if you think that the E-36 M3 was one of the greatest cars of all time, just wait 'cause you ain't seen nothing yet. NUF SAID
