The low end torque on the E-46 was disappointing to me. However I am also biased by driving the V8's on a regular basis (540,M5). Once you hit about 3000-3500RPM it then steps up. The VANOS does not give you the same kick as the 94 EuroSpec cars.
I guess that it is hard to judge something that we have not experienced out of Munich as of yet and my comparisons are biased.
That being said though it is still an incredibly fast car(all first gear of it).
