Forget the 2dr/4dr arguement because the extra doors barely add any weight. But, a few things to remember would be the larger engine, 6 Speed gearbox, heavier duty suspension, 18" wheels, and quite a few other things which could offset the M3's weight advantage from heavy aluminum use.
