Your calculation is interesting... imaginative unit though.

The resulted-ranking tells one thing: In general, there exisit a deminishing marginal rate of return on the next extra dollar you spend on purchasing a car. Cars are more expensive at the bottom of the list.

But i think the following formula works better:

weight / (hp / displacement)
...
= (weight * displacement )/ hp

$ is not taken into acoount here... but if you want, you can take the whole thing and divide by price.

which gives the result in "per dollar" term.
