I dont understand your confusion, The M3 is not, and was NEVER intended to be a sports car. The extra weight is exactly what gives the M3 its better road manners and comfort. It is a GREAT GT sedan, better than alot of sports cars, but that does not make it a sports car. I know that in order to find a car of similar performance cababilities you have to look at sports cars, that is the beauty of the whole thing it is what makes the BMW's so incredible, they are great, comfortable, performance sedans that you can comfortably drive to a track, thrash the shit out of it all weekend and then comfortably drive home.
No other car does this as well as a BMW.
