Not that I don't disagree with the gist of your post, but I think rpm is not the key factor here. The S2000 engine revs to 9000 rpm and its pistons see speed in excess of F1 engines. I own an S2K and am a member of a S2000 site where several members have 25K+ trouble free miles. If Honda can do it and get it right for 32K I have faith that BMW can do it and get it right for 50K+.
