Those of in the engineering fields know, the other departments... marketing, executive team, etc. want the product out the door now. The eng team knows in the back of their mind that there are problems, but it goes out the door anyway. We think, "Man, I feel sorry for the guys who get this first batch."

I guess in this case we have to trust that since this is the BMW M team, they know what they're doing. Best of breed engineers on this one. But the hype sure is building. I can only imagine the pressure on the team to get it out the door.

I worries me, considering the cost of the car and the fact that my 98 M3 has been flawless. I'm #8 on my list, I may back off if the first batch shows any troubling signs.

They are definitely doing the right thing by delaying. Makes you wonder what people are thinking when they get angry for the delays. Do they really want to pay $50k for an imperfect car? The delay means that there was not enough time to finish engineering the car. Let them finish.

I agree, it must be the engine. Chassis has been in production for 1-2 years. Ultra high revs is new for BMW. This is also a 6 cyl vs the 4 in the S2000, or does the S2000 have a 6 as well?
