Resolving the problem:
Assuming there was an immediate solution to that one problem. We are human, and we are pushing the envelope here, maybe it's not something that can be solved easily. I'm just being my usual pesimistic self. However, your point on testing a revised design and the time it takes has given me a warm feeling inside. Yes, perhaps that's it and that might explain the delays. ;)

Nature of the delay:
Again, my ultrapesimistic paranoid self would not find it hard to believe that a large company would withhold information from Joe public, after all, they are in this for the money. Fortunately, BMW is not working for their stockholders, so this might be a plus. But when marketing gets out ahead of engineering, things can really start to fall apart fast.

Two good points that make me feel better. But I'm surprised nobody mentioned a third more sinister point.

Paul want the first one:
In an effort to further discourage buyers on waiting lists. Paul comes up with a scheme that will make more people drop off the lists and bump him further to the front. Make no mistake, I am very excited about this car and am looking forward to owning one someday. Don't try to judge the quality of a product (E46) by reading through posts on a forum. I've owned many questionable products in the past that were trashed on forums and never had a single problem. Case in point, our Land Rovers.

Later,
Paul
