I think it has to do with high intial demand. after the first year and a half or so of production, demand will slack off. you don't want to retool/build a bunch of plants just to satisfy that initial glut in demand. I'm not criticizing the fact that dealers are significantly marking up, nor am i criticizing the realistic probability of individuals doing the same thing. My problem is with bmw coming out with a price and not meeting demand. what possible logic is in this? why would they not ramp up engine production to meet this demand? they'd rather produce more 325's? WTF? quality control maybe? that just shows a lack of foresight. in not increasing the size of /M.

My point: Is /M really about exclusivity? what good is that to BMW? Let's look at this further a bit- i doubt it helps profits and what's the use of functionality if the product isn't available?

an exclusive -3- series... thats bullshit IMO no matter how powerful... its just an absurd idea, not to mention an indication of flaw in the overall design of the e46 m3
