The US Spec M3 will be the same as the Euro Spec M3, which means all M3s will be built by hand. The US Spec E36 M3 had a machine built engine, that's why BMW managed to make 70,000 of them. I think they just don't have enough hands to keep up with demand. I don't mind, I'd rather wait and get an M3 with a real M engine.

I'm not criticizing the fact that dealers are significantly marking up, nor am i criticizing the realistic probability of individuals doing the same thing. My problem is with bmw coming out with a price and not meeting demand. what possible logic is in this? why would they not ramp up engine production to meet this demand? they'd rather produce more 325's? WTF? quality control maybe? that just shows a lack of foresight. in not increasing the size of /M.

My point: Is /M really about exclusivity? what good is that to BMW? Let's look at this further a bit- i doubt it helps profits and what's the use of functionality if the product isn't available?

an exclusive -3- series... thats bullshit IMO no matter how powerful... its just an absurd idea, not to mention an indication of flaw in the overall design of the e46 m3
