BMW is in this buisness to make money.. And if demand for the M5 was for 5000 cars this year I doubt bmw would be decreasing supply. Therefore I don't think your reasoning is why BMW is lowering supply of the M5(to maintain exclusivity)

Hell, If demand was for 50,000 m3's I think BMW ought to produce 50,000 m3's.. Would lower the cost and more people would get to enjoy the ultimate driving experience. Most of us aren't here for an image. We're here to buy a kick ass car. Simple as that.


the 330 is supposed to be the volume leader, the M3 is supposed to the image maker of the 3 series lineup. Keep it exclusive. This is what BMW is doing with the M5. BMW is lowering the supply of cars next year to ~2200 (this year was ~2800). BMW learned it's lesson with the E34 M5, it's sales slowed so much BMW stopped importing it 2 years before it went out of production.

The only people complaining will be the people that can't afford it. The 45k-ish price for the performance is a bargain.
