M3 engine detailed in Sport Compact Car (archive)

The February 2001 issue of Sport Compact Car has a very detailed two page description of the new M3 engine (page 16 & 17). They were very impressed with it. I wonder if the detailed complexity might give some clue to the (if one still exists) production problem? I can scan it for DC’s site when I go back to the office next week (and regrettably, I may be there tomorrow).
