I recently turned in my 2000 S500 after only four months of ownership, and bought a 1997 Porsche 993 TT. Best decision I ever made. The interior of the Merc was of a poorer quality than most minivans, and the car wasn't anything to write home about in general. Believe it or not, I also just cancelled my order for the S55 yesterday despite being #1 on the list. I just don't want a Merc again after owning one for 5 months. It was utterly soulless.

We're ninth on the list for the E46 M3 in Lexington, KY. If the E46 is no better than the E36, I'll still be much happier with it than an overpriced Mercedes. I truly feel that Merc is resting on its laurels and will suffer in the long run with the drop in quality and its downmarket move (C-class, A-class). It's going to weaken the brand.
