I'm not sure the accuracy of this, but....
A friend of mine who know somebody inside BMW NA says that
there seems to be some "problem" which a component supplied
to BMW for the engine that is not up to BMW standards. Apparently the component fails under stress testing and BMW is waiting for a "new batch" from the manufacturer. The thinking is that rather than shipping the cars with a known flaw, that BMW has cars ready to ship except that the would rather wait until the component is replaced and checked to avoid a recall on the engine. Does anybody have information supporting or not supporting this?I'm not sure how reliable the source is but it certainly sounds like what may be happening.
When I spoke with a dealer in Chapel Hill, NC, he said delivery in MAY/JUNE. Again, not sure how well connected the dealer is either.
Feedback ?
