Carbon black? (archive)

Is Carbon black a black with purple & blues shades (under different lighting) or a dark blue with purple shades? I am considering this color along with titanium silver & jet black. Would really like to hear from anyone who has seen the color in the daylight as well as at night. I really do not like purple but the color has looked spectacular in the pictures I have seen (feb Bimmer mag). Also how about maintenance and interior color choices with this color.
