The M5 I saw in CB had no real purple color. It had a distinct deep metallic blue where the light reflected and everywhere else had a hazed over black look like a black with a layer of dust on it. It did not look black except from a distance and even then you could tell it was not jet black. The blue highlights were not noticable from a distance only really noticed them up close.

I'm the opposite, I was considering buying it tell I saw it. I thought it would be jet black with the blue where the light hit like in the pictures but it's not, it has a very noticable dark grey to it.

You can see this dark grey haze on the color card at your dealer as well.
