After you guys get your panties out of a knot, and come down off whatever you've been smoking, you might want to check out the M5 forums. www.bmwregistry.com, www.bmwm5.com, and oh look, there's an E39 M5 forum right here on roadfly! I wonder if there is a reason people refuse to click the search button. Maybe they feel these forums are "not worthy" of a search engine?

- The Al-look trim in the E39 M5 breaks down quickly. Many people are on their 4th set of replacements... usually in the shifter, console, and controls area.

- The Al-look trim for the M5 is called Titanium over here... might be called something else in other places.

- The M5 Al-look trim is absolutely like what you get in a 330 or any other non-M. Many people are getting the two metalic trims mixed up. The more common 5 and 3 series Al look trim is not the same as what you see in the M5 (or M3 if it was an option). The "titanium" metal trim has a brushed texutre. For example the dash pieces have horizontal scratched / brushed lines in them, like wood grain, and are not smooth to the touch. Some versions have a plastic coating over this, others do not, it's been changed to try and reduce the problem. The 3 and 5 standard Al trim has no "grain" to it, it's smooth.
