If it's cool to ship cars like unfinished furniture, then lets extend this theme to a variety of other items on the car.

We'll have BMWNA only allow 12 inch mini-spare style wheels, an AM-only radio, and drum brakes for the car you order, and then you can happily hunt around at various parts counters and aftermarket shops to complete your car, discarding the BMW oem pieces as you go.

What? Suddenly you think that shipping a car with parts that the customer does not want is dumb, especially when the correct parts where sitting right there next to it as the factory bolted on the wrong stuff per BMWNA orders, only to ship the good parts in parallel with your car so you could pay for them twice?

We're campaigning to get BMWNA's ordering process fixed because its a DUMB way to build a car. It's wasteful, expensive, it risks screwing up a correctly assembled car by having to rip lots of parts out and replace them, and most of all it's completely unnecessary since as far as we know BMWNA is the only importer in the world with such moronic restrictions. The factory is happily pumping out cars as their owners desire them for everyone else.

That's why we're pissed. It's not just the waste of time, money and effort, it's the whole concept which is stupid.
